How we got started
A defined strategy and a clear goal
We established T&J in 2010. Our aim was clear and simple – tear up the traditional opaque rule book and deliver a safe, secure and efficient route to market for the private investor. Today, our commitment and determination remain steadfast, backed by Trust, Respect, Transparency and Reliability.
It is our mission to ensure your experience is seamless from entry to exit. With nearly £15m of the world’s rarest and most desirable wines (and Whisky) overseen for both private and corporate clients, they have the scale and network to facilitate private clients, as well as corporate institutions who seek to build portfolios from a few thousand, up to and beyond multi-million-pound levels.

My journey into fine wine
"In my late 20’s, I was fortunate to travel a lot through my work as a photographer, visiting many parts of the world that were famous for the wines produced there."
Chris Twaites
California, Tuscany, Bordeaux — these weren’t just destinations, they were classrooms. The people I met spoke about their wines with a dignity, pride, and excitement that was impossible to ignore. Without knowing it, I started an education that has now lasted almost 30 years.

“A great wine is one that leaves you speechless, but also one that you cannot stop talking about!”
Experience & Investment
Today, my perspective on wine is shaped by both experience and investment discipline. I don’t follow a rigid philosophy; instead, I let the moment guide my choices. When advising clients, I encourage the same approach — but always with an investor’s eye for balance, longevity, and underlying value.
“Harmony and structure matter, but so does the emotional resonance of the bottle.”
A Broad Palate
My palate is broad. I’m drawn to structure, elegance, and celebration in equal measure because each wine is created for a specific purpose. Over the years, I’ve developed a deep admiration for Malbec’s evolution in South America. Its high-altitude renaissance, particularly through the work of Bodega Catena Zapata, represents everything I value: terroir authenticity, generational mastery, and consistent performance across vintages.

Ever Evolving Regions
I return to many regions, but I refuse to choose favourites. Each visit reveals something new; a shift in style, a change in climate, a fresh expression of terroir. Even Bordeaux continues to evolve. Recent tastings from the 2025 vintage show a clear move away from the Parker-era power toward a fresher, more refined style. For investors, these transitions matter; they shape future demand, critic sentiment, and long-term value trajectories.

A Defining Bottle
There are bottles that define your journey, and for me, Opus One 1987 is one of them. I tasted it in 2001, at the very beginning of my wine education. The way it merged old-world philosophy with new-world ambition changed how I understood potential, craftsmanship, and legacy. It remains a benchmark for me — a reference point for excellence.

The Bottle To Convert

If I had to choose one bottle to convert someone to fine wine, I’d choose Château Montrose 1996. It’s powerful yet classical, with black and redcurrant fruit, floral undertones, and a graphite finish that seems to last forever. It’s a wine that proves patience pays — a core principle of fine-wine investment.
Power, classicism and lasting appeal
Bridging Passion With Performance
After three decades, my role is to bridge sensory appreciation with investor-led strategy. I help clients understand not just what makes a wine exceptional, but why certain producers, vintages, and regions consistently outperform. My work is about clarity, confidence, and long-term value — ensuring every bottle in a portfolio has purpose, provenance, and potential.

My journey into fine wine
“The best wines are not just consumed; they are experienced, remembered, and invested in.”
Oliver Jones
My path to fine wine has been shaped by family, business, and a lifelong passion. What began as childhood moments in a local wine merchant, grew through a career in property development, and ultimately led me to a profession that combines investment expertise with a genuine love for extraordinary wines.

Family & Beginnings
My passion for wine came from my late father, a true wine enthusiast. Some of my earliest memories are of standing beside him in our local wine merchant, watching him explore the shelves with almost ritualistic focus. Those moments were lessons in craftsmanship, heritage, and the emotional weight behind a great bottle.
Lifelong Inspiration
Business Foundations
After studying business at college, I built my career in property development — a sector that taught me how to assess value, understand long-term growth, and recognise the difference between speculation and genuine investment. These skills now inform my approach to fine wine investment.
Value - Vision - Discipline
A Passion Turned Profession
In the early 2000s, I made the decision to turn my lifelong fascination into a career. Fine wine offered something unique: an asset class where history, artistry, and scarcity converge with long-term financial performance. It allowed me to combine my commercial background with a genuine love for one of the world's most enduring markets.
History Meets Opportunity
Palate & Philosophy
I'm naturally drawn to the depth and structure of great reds — particularly well-aged Bordeaux. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Nebbiolo express true potential when matured with intention. Regions like Graves captivate me with their minerality, herbal nuance, and timeless character. I also hold deep admiration for smaller producers whose passion and honesty are unmatched.
Regions That Inspire
A Defining Moment
Tasting Château Lafite Rothschild 1989 in 2002 was a transformative experience. It was a small glass, yet it changed everything — the moment I truly understood why certain wines are considered fine, and why they endure.

The Bottle To Convert

If I were to convert someone to the world of fine wine, I'd choose Château Léoville Barton 1995. It balances accessibility with pedigree, still youthful yet destined for decades of evolution. For me, a great wine is unforgettable — something that heightens the senses and lingers long after the last sip.
